Collections

The Lahti Art Museum's own collection consists of approximately 3500 works of art, being mainly Finnish and local art from 1950's to the present day. The basic collection, which includes the oldest works of art, consists of the 75 works received from the former Viipuri Art Museum. This collection is composed of Finnish and foreign art from the 19th and early 20th century.

In 1982 the museum received a donation of great art historical value: the collection of the Association of Finnish Artistic Draftsmen consists of 1450 drawings from the mid 19th century to this day. Furthermore, the museum takes care of several deposited collections and the art collection of the City of Lahti, the works of which have been situated in different departments and offices in Lahti.
