The Lahti Art Museum and the Poster Museum

The Lahti Art Museum in Vesijärvenkatu street has operated since 1950 in the same building, which also houses the Poster Museum. The art museum stages temporary international and domestic exhibitions presented old and new art, and graphic design. The museum does not have space for a permanent exhibition. Instead, its own collections are displayed in various thematic exhibitions.

Since 1980, the Lahti Art Museum has been the regional art museum of Päijät-Häme. The duties of regional art museums include guidance and expert assistance for municipalities and communities in their regions in art-related matters. The regional art museum also engages in art education throughout the area of its province in addition to producing small exhibitions to be loaned and other educational material for schools and institutes of education and other communities.
